Construction Activity for July 11 - 23


The following is a schedule of construction activity at Hunter Hall (222 East 16th Street) from July 11 through July 23, 2016. Please feel free to contact us at projects@friendsseminary.org or call our Information Line at 646-979-5225 for questions or comments.

WORK HOURS

  • Monday through Friday: 7am – 6pm

  • Saturday: 9am – 3pm

  • No work on Sundays throughout construction (except in an emergency)

As weather conditions and unforeseen circumstances may influence the progress of the work, all dates and times mentioned may be subject to change.

Temporary closure of East 16th Street, between 3rd Avenue and Rutherford Place, July 11 – July 30.

  • This area will serve as a short-term staging area for placement of steel and a mobile hydraulic crane.

  • This street closure has been approved by the NYC Department of Transportation for the period July 11 through July 30.

  • During this time, a detour plan will be in effect, redirecting Eastbound vehicular traffic along East 18th Street.

  • Flagmen will be onsite to ensure safe passage of pedestrians, and to coordinate pick-ups and deliveries to Fineson House, St. George’s Church and Jack and Jill School.

INTERIOR WORK

  • Continued deconstruction of existing spaces to allow for installation of new sprinkler/plumbing systems.

  • Build-out and reconstruction of interiors.

  • Installation of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) services.

  • Bracing of existing structure for addition of new steel beams.

EXTERIOR WORK

  • Delivery of steel beams and trusses on flatbed truck.

  • Crane activity to allow for installation of structural steel, which includes final removal of existing rooftop play structure and moving steel beams and trusses into place.

  • Welding of column plates on both north and south facades, connecting new steel beams to existing infrastructure.

  • Waterproofing and fireproofing at columns, and final enclosing of exterior columns.

  • Continued installation of loading dock on East 16th Street.
